How we ended up in Budapest

YWAM missionaries are trained for their work through Discipleship Training School. The DTS is a six month
college credit curriculum designed to equip people for taking the good news of Jesus Christ to people in
culturally appropriate ways. We received our DTS training in Amsterdam with a practical outreach phase in
Budapest.

After our training we returned to Amsterdam as DTS staff members. Two years later we accepted a call to help
establish a new YWAM base in Budapest.  Hungary was a newly independent nation after the fall of the Soviet
Union and ideally situated geographically and culturally for a YWAM base..

Our Family
Our first child, Emily was
born while we lived in
Amsterdam. After our move
to Budapest we made it a
priority to integrate into the
Hungarian culture. We
immersed ourselves in
language learning and as
our family grew, our
children lived as much as
possible like native
Hungarians and attended
public school. Emily has
enjoyed ballet. Today we
are comfortable operating
in the community.

International Christian School
Last year Emily and Isaac enrolled in a new school outside
Budapest and we moved to a small town near the school. We love
our house which is situated on a high hill with a beautiful view.
